Take a 20-30 second video using a flashlight as well as your phone's camera flash
Make sure there is enough light when you capture a video of your child's throat. If it is too dark, your Pediatrician will be unable to diagnose and treat the issue. If you have an extra flashlight handy, it can greatly improve the lighting.
Make sure your light source is getting far enough into the mouth to include the back of the throat
Your Pediatrician will want to see the back of your child's throat - if it's too dark, they may ask you to take the video again.
Use a flat stick or the back of a spoon to push the tongue down, and have them say "ahh"
This will make it easier for you to get a good photo of the back of your child's throat!
Strep testing (if Pediatrician requests it and you have one at home)
If you have a strep test at home, your Pediatrician may ask you to perform a strep test. For more information on how to best perform a strep test, check out our strep test instructions
